More than 100 people turned out to "Meet the Miner Morgans" at the historic horse barn at Miner Institute on Monday, October 14 despite a very chilly 40-degree rainy day. Visitors were enamored by a barn full of Morgan horses, each with their names posted on the front of their stall. Equine Intern Elizabeth LaValley patiently answered dozens of questions about the horses and kindly informed visitors how to appropriately introduce themselves to a horse.
Visitors were able to create a horse mask and decorate gourds and mini pumpkins at a craft table in the classroom and warm up with some hot cider or coffee and fresh local apples and cider donuts.
Some very kind friends of Miner Institute's equine program helped to get the horses and the barn ready for the afternoon event and helped to lead the craft activities. We are so grateful for our "Miner" village and for all the support in the community. We love sharing our horses, our history, and our knowledge with all of you!
