History Campers have a "day on the farm"

Miner Institute teamed up with The Alice T. Miner Museum for a “day on the farm” during the 2024 history camp.  We hosted seven energetic campers ranging in age from 8 to 11.

History Camp was based primarily at The Alice T. Miner Museum, but on Wednesday of camp week, campers spent the day at the farm. They enjoyed an exhibit tour, learning about horse care, watching cows being milked, and learning about what we feed to dairy cows!! Campers also played some historic lawn games and made some butter which was then enjoyed on toast. Thanks to The Alice's Program Coordinator Leni Vradelis and Burke History Intern Emlyn Doell for lugging some supplies from the museum and for spending the day with the campers! Emlyn led the group through the Heritage Exhibit and Coach House. Equine interns Summer Greene and Alee Thornhill helped at our horse care station and in the dairy barn we were led by Herdsman Rebecca Sprang, Research Intern Allie Bartlett, and Graduate Student Emily Bourdeau. Amy Bedard was a fantastic hoop and stick leader!

This was such a fun and engaging day! We are already looking forward to teaming up again in 2025!
